London's recent legislation has made it easier for transgender people to use public toilets.
The legislation is a result of the Gender Recognition Act 2004 and the Equality Act 2010 which protects people from discrimination on the grounds of gender reassignment. The Gender Recognition Act was amended in 2015 to allow transgender people to self-declare their gender without medical evidence.
This amendment means that there are now over 100 public toilets in London that are gender neutral. These facilities include both male and female toilets, as well as toilets with just urinals or just cubicles, depending on the user's preference.
